Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton was born on January 19th, 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn. She had a family of 12 children. Her vivid imagination enabled her to escape the savage realities of daily life. Before she was able to read and write she was singing her own tunes. In the year she turned 8 at the time, she purchased the first electric guitar. Then she began singing on an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That same year, she recorded her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. When she was still in highschool she became famous locally but was always dreaming of a larger stage. She relocated to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer to be a part of his syndicated show at this point. Parton agreed to the position and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Her departure from the show came, but in 1974, because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You to Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. 1. for the first time in 1974.
